Maps and editor

Where: Configuration → Maps. Who: owners and managers edit; other roles can only View.

The map is the drawing of your beach: bookable spots (umbrellas, gazebos, tents, palms, sunbeds, daybeds, cabanas, hammocks) and non-bookable elements (walkways, showers, bar, lifeguard tower, flag, toilets, defibrillator…). The same map becomes the operational view of the day, the mini-map of a new booking and the map customers see online.

Tap or use the keyboard to select a spot; drag and use the controls to zoom.

Where: Configuration → Establishment → Map tab. Arenile ships two Coste360 illustration kits with the same elements: choose the one the panel and the public page draw every map of the establishment with.

Kit How the status reads
Modern (default) Solid one-colour icons: the umbrella, sunbed or gazebo takes the colour of its status (grey free, light blue booked online, purple booked at the desk, red to collect…). The status symbol sits in the top-right corner, which the drawing leaves empty. Structures and services are one-colour tiles (bar, showers, toilets, first aid).
Classic Detailed drawings in natural colours: the status is a coloured halo around the spot, with the same symbol in the corner. It is the kit of the previous versions.
  1. Open Configuration → Establishment and the Map tab.
  2. Compare the two previews: they show the same row of spots in the main statuses.
  3. Choose Modern or Classic and press Save. The map of the day, the editor, the new booking panel and the public page use the new style straight away.

In both kits the status never relies on colour alone: every booked status has its symbol in the corner (globe online, counter desk, tick present, star season pass, euro to collect…), and blocked spots also get a diagonal bar. In the Modern kit a dark outline appears around the drawing on hover, with the keyboard and when you select a spot.

An establishment can have several maps (for example Beach and Pool). The list shows size and number of spots; Open editor enters the editor. To delete a map confirm its name: its spots and the map’s zones are deleted with it, but the operation is refused if a zone is still used by price rules, packs or policies, or if there are spots with future bookings.

New map asks for:

Field Meaning
Name For example “Beach”.
Width, Height Size in map units (not metres: it is a drawing scale).
Grid step Dragged spots snap to the grid. A step that divides 60 (10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 60) makes walkways snap too.
Sea side Top (proposed, as on most Italian beaches), Bottom, Left or Right: decides where the sea is drawn and which way the rows start.

Create and open the editor takes you straight to drawing.

The editor has three areas: the toolbar at the top, the map in the middle and the Properties panel on the right (hidden with Show or hide properties). The title shows how many spots there are and whether there are unsaved changes.

The palette offers the original illustrations of the Coste360 kit chosen for the establishment (Modern or Classic), with search and categories: Spots, Paths, Structures, Services, Rescue, Watersports, Sport and relax, Furniture, Nature, Signage. Some examples:

The fastest way to draw a lido with rows.

  1. Open Row generator and choose the Zone of the new spots.
  2. Layout: Rows, Spots per row, Origin X/Y (the first spot), Spacing between spots, Spacing between rows. Rows move away from the sea according to the map’s sea side: row A is the closest to the sea.
  3. Labels: Numbering direction left to right or right to left; Row names with letters (A, B, …) or numbers; First row and First number; numbers that Restart on each row or are Continuous; Label format (for example {row}{number} → A1, A2…). Choose the illustration too.
  4. Check the Preview (“120 spots, from A1 to H15”). If a label already exists the generator says so and does not proceed.
  5. Add N spots.

Select a spot (or several, with Shift) to edit it. With several elements selected, fields with different values show — mixed —.

  • Identification: Label, Row, Number, Zone, Type, Illustration.
  • Position and size: coordinates, Size, rotation.
  • Booking: Active (bookable), Price category (override) (for a spot priced differently from its zone), comma-separated Attributes (for example shade, near_bar, usable by price rules), Capacity and maximum extras per component.

Walkways are 60-unit tiles: straight runs are a whole number of tiles long and the pieces (corner, T, cross, curve, end) join up. With a grid step that divides 60 they snap to the tile grid; otherwise they stay where you drop them.

The Sea condition flag element has the Flag colour property: Green, Yellow or Red. On the map it is named and described with its colour, also for screen reader users.

The sea is the blue strip drawn along the map’s Sea side, with the shoreline in the style of the kit: row A is the closest one. New maps propose the sea at the top. To change it on a map already drawn:

  1. Save or discard the pending changes, then open Map settings.
  2. Change Sea side and press Apply: if the map already contains elements, Move the sea? appears.
  3. Choose how to apply the change:
    • Flip the layout: spots, decorations and walkways are mirrored (opposite sides, for example from bottom to top) or rotated by 90° (adjacent sides, for example from bottom to right), so that every row keeps its distance from the sea. Labels, rows, zones and bookings do not change. It is saved right away as a new version.
    • Only the sea: only the sea side changes and the elements stay where they are; save the map to apply it.

If the map has bookings, season passes or blocks from today on, the panel says so (Future bookings on the map) before going ahead: only the drawing changes, assigned spots stay the same. If you also changed the size of the map, apply and save it first, then move the sea.

Select the spots of a row and use Renumber row: they are ordered along the shoreline and numbered in sequence. Number from the opposite end starts from the right (or the bottom). The example shows the result before applying.

Saving is single and transactional: either everything succeeds, or nothing does.

  • Before saving the editor lists what to fix (Fix before saving): spots without a zone, without a label or with repeated labels.
  • If a colleague saved the same map in the meantime, Map changed by another user appears with the difference (spots added, removed, moved, changed): choose Reload the saved version (you lose your changes), Overwrite with mine or Keep editing.
  • A spot with future bookings cannot be deleted: deactivate it (untick Active). The operational map will show it as inactive and it will no longer be bookable.

The editor can be used with the keyboard alone. The map is a single tab stop.

How many spots can a map handle? Up to 1,000 elements stay smooth even on a mid-range tablet.

Can I upload the site plan as a background? A background with an uploaded image or the concession perimeter is foreseen by the specification but not available yet.

I moved an umbrella: do the bookings stay? Yes: bookings are tied to the spot, not to its position in the drawing.
