Each beach has a single server, holding the archive (bookings, customers, takings). The options differ in where that server runs; staff devices (desk PC, tablets, phones) all connect the same way, from the browser.

Where the server runs Internet Online booking Status Notes
Online: VPS, hosting or Docker required yes Available The standard option, recommended for almost every beach.
On-site server: mini PC, NAS or Raspberry Pi at the beach, with Docker optional only if exposed to the internet (domain or tunnel) Available Same image as the online installation.
Local desktop: app on the desk PC not required no Available For those who work mainly at the desk, with a local network mode for other devices.
Hosting managed by Coste360 (Arenile Pro) required yes Future Commercial offering for those who do not want to manage a server.

Online (recommended)

A VPS costing a few euros a month, with Docker. The beach is reachable from anywhere, the booking page works around the clock and Stripe payments arrive even at night. You need a domain (for example prenota.mio-lido.it).

On-site server

A mini PC or Raspberry Pi at the beach, with the same Docker image. It keeps working when the internet drops, but for online booking it must be reachable from outside (a domain with open ports, or a tunnel). Think about a UPS and off-site backups.

Local desktop

A file to download and a double click on the desk PC: no server, no terminal. No internet, therefore no public page or online payments. Packages for Windows, macOS and Linux are on arenile.app/download. How it works: Desktop app and local network.

Arenile Pro (future)

Hosting managed by Coste360 for those who do not want to deal with servers, upgrades and backups. A separate, commercial product; the core stays complete and free for those who run their own establishments.

  1. Do you want online bookings? You need a server reachable from the internet: choose Online (or an On-site server exposed through a domain or tunnel).
  2. Do you already have a VPS, or someone who can manage one? Online with Docker is the simplest and most robust path.
  3. Unreliable connection at the beach and mostly desk work? On-site server, or the desktop edition on the cash desk PC.
  4. You do not want to deal with anything? Consider managed hosting when it becomes available.

Valid for every option:

  • the browser: web panel, nothing to install, on PC, tablet and phone;
  • the desktop app in remote mode Available: dedicated window and fiscal bridge to the fiscal printer connected to the cash desk PC (see Devices);
  • the mobile app for staff Coming (M7): map of the day, QR check-in, payments, even offline.

There are no hybrid models with two synchronised servers (for example offline desktop plus VPS). Two synchronising archives would have to resolve conflicts between bookings, and the guarantee that a spot is never sold twice could no longer be absolute. To move from one option to another you use backup and restore: the SQLite backup is the same file in every edition.
