The customer journey
Knowing the customer journey helps you answer the phone and configure the page well. It is built for a smartphone, even inside the beach’s website: a complete booking takes less than two minutes. No account, no fees.
The four steps
Section titled “The four steps”The customer picks the first and last day (for a single day, they tap the same day twice). The calendar is limited to the season and the bookable dates and shows Availability day by day (Available, Last spots, Full, Closed); if you enabled it, it highlights the Rate periods. Then they choose the Package type and the Time of day among those you offer online.
The page adapts to your zones:
- Map, if at least one online zone is chosen-spot: free spots highlighted, price legend by row (“from €25”), list alternative by row for screen reader users or small screens;
- Areas: one card per zone with a “from” price and indicative availability (“Last 3 spots”, “Sold out”);
- Quantity: a selector for the number of items.
With zones of different modes they appear together.
Packages compatible with the choice (with their composition), extras with quantity, the Promo code field. The Summary with Total, Due now and Balance later updates at every change.
Your details: First name, Last name, Email (where the confirmation and manage link arrive) and Phone (always optional). The mandatory tick I have read and accept the booking conditions (with Read the conditions and the Privacy notice) and the optional I want to receive offers and news. The Spot held for… countdown shows how much of the hold is left.
The final button depends on your rules: Pay … (online payment), Confirm booking (payment at the beach) or Send the request (approval). In Stripe test mode the page says so: Test mode: no real charge.
The spot hold
Section titled “The spot hold”When the customer moves from the “What” step to “Details and payment”, the spot (or the quantity) is held for
them: nobody else can take it, neither online nor at the desk. The hold lasts ARENILE_HOLD_TTL (10 minutes by
default) and is extended during payment up to a maximum of 30 minutes. If it expires the spot becomes free again and
the customer sees The time to complete the booking is over: please choose again. In the panel that spot appears as
Pending while the hold is active.
Payment and confirmation
Section titled “Payment and confirmation”- With Stripe the page says Secure payment with Stripe: you will be redirected and then brought back here and opens the payment page at full window, even when embedded in your website. If the host website prevents it, the buttons Open the payment page and Open in a new tab appear.
- On return the page shows Waiting for the payment confirmation… (Do not close the page: it usually takes a few seconds) until Stripe tells Arenile the outcome.
- Then Booking confirmed appears with the Booking code, the QR code to show at the entrance, the details
(paid, Still to pay, spots Being assigned for zones with automatic assignment) and the Add to calendar
button (
.icsfile). The customer receives the email with the manage link.
| Outcome | What the customer sees |
|---|---|
| Payment failed or abandoned | Payment failed / Payment not completed: the spot is still held and they can Try the payment again |
| Approval required | Request sent: the beach will reply shortly; you find it Awaiting approval in the panel |
| Hold expired | Booking expired: the spot has been released |
| Rejected by the manager | Request not accepted |
| Slow confirmation | You will receive an email as soon as the payment is confirmed (reconciliation recovers lost webhooks) |
