Panel without connection

Where: the whole panel, on any device. Who: every user.

On the beach the connection sometimes drops. The manager panel keeps working in a limited way: you can view the map and the bookings of today and tomorrow, check customers in, add notes and take cash payments. What you do without a connection is sent by itself as soon as the network is back.

Installing the panel as an app

The panel can be installed like an app: it opens full screen from its icon, without the address bar, on the Today page.

Open the panel with Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu and choose Install app (or Add to Home screen).

The panel address is the same one you use in the browser and must be https. On a computer you can also use the desktop app, which brings Arenile straight onto the cash desk PC.

Updates

When a new version comes out, A new version of the panel is available appears with Update and Later. The update never starts by itself, so nobody is interrupted during a check-in; queued operations are not lost when updating. The first time The panel is ready to work offline too also appears.

What works without a connection

The indicator at the top always shows the status: Online, Offline or Syncing, with the number of operations queued and of those to review. Without a connection the You are offline notice appears with the time of the data you are viewing.

Creating and moving bookings needs the connection: only the server guarantees that the spot is free and that nobody sells it twice. The panel explains it in the form (Not available offline) and sends nothing.

The operation queue

Check-ins, notes and payments made offline show up on the map at once and go into the queue. When the connection is back they are sent in order, each only once, even if the network drops halfway. The typical arrival (collecting the balance and then checking in the same booking) works offline too.

Tap the indicator to open Offline operations: you see what is queued, with the time, and you can use Send now.

If the server refuses an operation (for example a cash payment without an open cash session, or a check-in on a booking cancelled in the meantime) Offline operations to review appears:

Tap Review to see the operation and the reason.
Fix the cause (for example open the cash desk) and choose Retry, or Discard if the operation is no longer needed.

If the session has expired you see Session expired: sign in again to send the queued operations.

Which data stays on the device

To work offline the panel saves in the browser, only for the establishment you are viewing: your profile, the maps, the beach situation of today and tomorrow (customer name, booking code and balance) and the details of the bookings of these two days that you opened. It never saves the customer records, contact details, payments, reports or staff users.

Saved data expires after 48 hours and is replaced when you switch establishment.
With Sign out the panel tries to send the queued operations and then deletes the saved data; the same happens when another user signs in on the device.
Queued operations are never discarded by themselves: they contain cash really collected and check-ins really done. If a colleague signs in on the same device, they see them in the indicator and they are sent with their session.
